Peter Philips, Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup, borrows the intangible hues of summer blue. Like a cloud-strewn sky, eyes take up shimmering reflections that change with the light. On eyelids, ILLUSION D'OMBRE takes on a scintillating and satiny effect that makes eye makeup glow with each bat of the lashes. Two airy shades of grey blue, one pale, Destination and the other more intense, Apparition adopt to all faces. Eyeshadows are applied according to inspiration: in sheer washes or deep colour blocks, in monochrome or gradations. LE CRAYON YEUX Bleu Aerien borders the eyelids with an intense stroke, like a horizon line over the ocean. For the final step of this chromatic journey, LE VERNIS Sky Line sweeps nails with a delicate shade of pearly blue that captures and softens the light in its pearly reflections.

ILLUSION D'OMBRE
LONG WEAR LUMINOUS EYESHADOW

The surprising sensory feel of the lightweight, long-lasting, silky, powdery cream texture is an irresistible invitation to apply makeup.
DESTINATION: A stunning shimmering pale, silvery blue.
This shade is perfect for spring / summer day wear. This is perfect for those with brown eyes, particularly, deep brown eyes. If you have dark blue eyes, this pale blue will provide greater contrast and make your eyes stand out even more. I love this.
APPARITION: Intense, deep grey blue.
Apparition will suit most, if not everyone. If you have deep blue or deep grey eyes, I would use more of the pale 'Destination' so it's not so 'matchy matchy' and make your deep eyes stand out more. Apparition is a great alternative to your neutral greys and blacks for an evening, smokey look. I, myself, have dark brown eyes, and I love (and much prefer) wearing blue for a smokey look than black or brown. It's extremely flattering, particularly if you also have olive / dark skin tone. (Note, grey is also a great alternative for brown eyes, which is my other favourite shade to wear for a smokey eye look). Grey/steel blue? Well, it's a perfect shade, isn't it! ^_^

Destination and Apparition are a perfect as a pair, or on their own - along with the eye liners below. Illusion D'Ombre cream eye shadows are one of my favourites for their ease of application, amazing finish that is long wearing and crease-proof, and not to mention the sophisticated twinkle they add to the eyes. For a sheer wash of colour, I simply use a clean finger tip to apply and blend out the edges. To use as an eye liner or to achieve a more opaque, intense colour, I use the little brush applicator provided. A little goes a long way using this brush!
I suggest pairing with nudes, terracotta, coral or peach on the lips and cheeks. Apply subtler shades or with much less intensity if you're creating a more intense eye look. Note, the blush shown in the product description card first photo is the Joues Contraste in 'Rose Ecrin', and the Rouge Coco Lipstick is 'Superstition' - both are re-promoted items from previous releases. My favourite blushes to pair blue eyeshadows with are the Joues Contraste in 'Espiegle' (peach) and Burberry Light Glow Blush in 'Blossom' (coral). As for lips, I love the look with Burberry Lip Cover in 'Devon Sunset' (warm, peachy coral). :-)
LE CRAYON YEUX
PRECISION EYE DEFINER

For eye contour makeup, trace dashes along the base of the lashes. LE CRAYON YEUX draws a sharp, precise and matte line that accentuates and widens the eyes.
For an eyeshadow effect, make small traces, then blend in with the soft rubber applicator. LE CRAYON YEUX leaves a muted shadow on the eyelid.
The soft rubber applicator is on the other end of the pencil. Chanel pencils come with a sharpener.
BLEU AÉRIEN: Appears royal blue pencil, but applies a vibrant, blue shade.
LE CRAYON KHÔL
INTENSE EYE PENCIL

Matte black lacquered wooden pencil for use on the inside of the lower lid and to outline the eyes.
Its formula, specially adapted for use on the inside of the eyelid contains vegetable fats, microcrystalline waxes, pigments and iridescent elements.
It is suitable for the most sensitive eyes and is extremely comfortable.
I have very sensitive eyes and usually avoid applying makeup on my waterline, however, I'm pleased to report that I have not had any problems using this pencil. ^_^

SKY LINE: Delicate, pearly, pale blue.
I absolutely adore the shade and finish. It's so light, airy and fresh. It gives a very youthful, yet sophisticated appearance. It pairs well with 'Destination', too - but any blue will do!
I found the formulation fairly easy to work with. Just make sure to apply in thin layers and it will apply smoothly and evenly. It also helps if your nail beds are smooth (buff them if required before applying), otherwise the pearly finish will make them more obvious and appear uneven.
One can easily get away with just one coat. Apply two for complete coverage. So far, I've worn this nail polish for two days and looking good. I find most Chanel nail polishes to be very long-wearing - last about a week on me, so I expect the same for 'Sky Line'.

A truly beautiful collection that does justice to my favourite colour in different hues. If you're hesitant to try blue, this collection - the shades, textures, formulations and finish make them so much more wearable than you think. Very fresh and modern. Definitely not to be missed! ^_^
