Anyway, back to the actual post topic. I love lipsticks and lip glosses. They give me a boost of confidence and make me feel sexy. But I suffer from horribly chapped lips. There could be a number of factors: I don't drink enough water (but I drink lots of coffee and I love salty food), the meds I could be taking, the lupus in general, etc. I've searched high and low for the perfect lip scrub/exfoliator/balm/etc. I went to LUSH last month for some skin care items that I ended up loving and I was eyeing the lip scrubs too. So on Monday, I went to LUSH in Arden Fair Mall looking for that Mint Julips scrub I've been eyeing forever. I also ended up getting Popcorn.
The lip scrubs are 25 g and come in cute little pots. They're not really meant to moisturize but to take off excess dead skin. Warning: watch out if you love minty sweet stuff. I'm a huge sucker for peppermint patties, mint chocolate chip ice cream, etc. I ended up eating half the pot of Mint Julips. It's that delicious. The Popcorn flavor has a sweet and salty flavor that I love too. Both flavors contain castor sugar and organic jojoba oil which softens the lips. I lick the scrubs after I apply it on my lips (since it's edible) and I brush off the skin with a toothpaste (before I go to bed or go out and want to wear lipstick). Then I apply the Bite Beauty Agave Mask. I wake up with soft smooth lips! I tried it yesterday morning and the night before and I wore the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Monte Carlo (my new holy grail lippie. I am absolutely in love with it. I also have Prague, Sao Paulo, Zurich, Stockholm, and Antwerp but Zurich and Monte Carlo are my favorites. I'm looking to get Morocco, Copenhagen and Cannes soon). I was in school from 9 am to 7 pm and my lips did NOT get as dried out and flaky as they usually would. And you know how drying matte lipsticks get. And I have a lot of them that I haven't used yet.
When I first wore the NYX Soft Matte lip cream in Monte Carlo, I got at least 3 compliments. I would love to wear this on a regular basis but I'd feel too bold?
Does anyone else have suggestions for other lip balms to go well with the scrubs? Like lip tints for days when I don't feel like having full color on? I like color too but with a tint...think of a 60-75% opacity (sorry, that's my graphic design nerd coming out. haha)
