Sweet Lilac (615) is one of the new, limited edition, summer nail colours released as part of Reflets D'été De Chanel Collection. It is a light to medium, blue-toned, lilac pink and cream finish. In the bottle, there are very subtle lilac pink shimmers, especially when viewed under sunlight, but they're not as apparent when applied on the nails. (Note, all photographs here were taken indoors under artificial lighting and using a strobe).
All Chanel nail products are formaldehyde-free, toluene-free and DBP-free.
The square cap comes off, which comes in handy for your finger to rest on as you apply nail polish. :)
The brush applicator is thin, which is great for precise application.
On My Nails...
I am obsessed with the colour on white layered look as per the Chanel Summer 2014 campaign ad. It's quirky and a really fun way to wear bright summer shades. I've never really done any "nail art" on my nails, but this look was really easy to achieve! ^_^ I first applied a couple of coats of Chanel's Eastern Light (a soft white shade that re-promoted this season - see review and swatches of it here) on the entire nail as usual. I let this dry completely, then I applied just a couple of coats of 'Sweet Lilac' (enough to give full coverage especially with the help of the white base) straight on top, leaving a gap of white peeking through around the edges except for the tip. I didn't do it below, but I highly recommend applying a top coat for extra longevity. For reference, I have medium, olive (~NC30) skin tone.
Comparison Swatches
I'm happy that 'Sweet Lilac' is unique in my collection. I do love lilac, but until now I only owned lilac purples / lavender shades like Dior's 'Froufrou' and Essie's 'Nice is Nice' swatched below. :) I also swatched Tom Ford's 'Pink Crush' (a soft, pale pink hue) for reference. Each shade was applied in 2-3 coats.
Overall
I personally think 'Sweet Lilac' is 'must-have' out of the collection, not just because I don't own one like it, but it's simply just a pretty spring/summer shade. Chanel is one of my all-time favourite nail polish brands. 'Sweet Lilac' is slightly less pigmented than 'Pink Tonic' (619) reviewed in the previous post, but it applies evenly (it actually levels itself out in case you're a little clumsy) and the result is perfect in 2-3 coats. :) Grab it before it's gone!
